China Intervenes
South Korea was aided by the UN troops and the US troops, led under MacArthur. North Korea held out for as long as they could, then turned to the People's Republic of China for aid. When the UN and the US troops had managed to push the Democratic People's Republic of Korean (DPRK) troops up to the border between Manchuria and North Korea, this action was named, the Race to Yalu. And due to this action, a desperate Kim IL Song turned to the Chinese for support. With the use of a thousand foot soldiers, the Chinese were able to push back the UN and US troops back to the 38th parallel. Such battles consisted of the Battle of Chongchon adnd the battle of the Changjin Reservoir.
