As read in the last page, the leaders of both countries of Korea didn't concur on who ruled Korea. Both claimed to be the "real" rulers of Korea and both did not back down. So then, Kim Il Sung took the initiative for the first invasion in Korea. This of course created tension between the South Korean country and it shocked them for the most part. They looked for immediate help. Many South Koreans were put into camps, worked as slaves, most being taken away by the North Korean army and military forces. You can say it is no different from the internment camps of the World War. And this was, because of a little topic on who controlled. After some time, North Korea became ruthless, so South Korea could do nothing but ask for help. And there, the United States and the United Nations came to their aid. Although they were at a great disadvantage at first, they were able to overturn the situation. They were not able to win or conquer all the way, but they were able to take back the land they lost and now both countries are divided amongst the 38th parallel line. You could say that South Korea had suffered a lot and costly damages were made all over the country. The after-effects were devastating, but they were able to rejuvenate back to their normal lives after quite awhile.
